Sue's Gluten Free Products was started in 2004 by Sue Jennett from a small borrowed commercial kitchen.  Both Sue and her teenage daughter, Deanna, are celiacs who are active in the local chapter of the Canadian Celiac Association.

Sue began her business out of frustration at not being able to buy gluten free products, that were nearly as good as those she could produce at home.  She felt that celiacs should not be restricted to bland, dry baked goods that seemed to be the only ones available.  She became very adept at converting recipes and making anything she and Deanna wanted.  She soon realized, however, that most people on a gluten free diet were not able to spend the time or energy to make all of the food they wanted daily.  So Sue started up Sue's Gluten Free Products to improve the quality of gluten free food available in the Kingston area.

Not long after, a distributor found Sue and sampled the products.  He agreed that these were better than anything else he had tried and suggested that he distribute her products to Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.  This meant Sue could no longer rely on borrowed space.  In the summer of 2005, she set up a dedicated gluten free commercial bakery kitchen of her own at 1724 Bath Road.  The bakery is only open for retail sales 10 hours a week, but Sue is working six days a week, baking to fill orders.  Customers come from all over Eastern Ontario to the Kingston location.  As of Autumn 2010, Sue's has five employees dedicated to meeting the needs of its expanding customer base.
